Space — space bar · Enter — carriage return
Backspace — ratchet back one space
Tab — fly to the next tab stop
Shift — raise the carriage (hold)
Caps Lock — shift lock
Arrow keys — nudge carriage & platen
Esc — KEYS lever: TYPE ↔ MOVE
MR key — margin release past the stop
Press the round keys · Drag the platen or bail to slide the carriage
Pull the sheet upward to tear it out
Drag the platen knobs to roll the paper
Drag the margin stops on the rack
Levers — return, line-space, paper release, ribbon colour, KEYS
Jammed typebars — press a stuck key to free them
Pages stack (right of the desk) — flip through finished sheets
Two typebars arriving together will jam. The bell warns of the margin. At the bottom of the sheet, finish the page and feed a fresh one.
